– due for release in January 2006, Citilabs will offer an additional new module, built on Cube Voyager. Cube DTA brings dynamic traffic assignment to Cube, taking advantage of existing data to derive more detailed analysis via time-based travel routing. Cube DTA adds a new dimension of traffic modeling to our users, allowing them to create mesoscopic views of their existing and proposed network scenarios. DetaiLED features of CUBE DTA include:
• Represents vehicles as discrete packets or individual vehicles
• Assigns a specific time of departure from the origin point in the network to each packet or vehicle
• Routes the vehicles along variable paths in response to dynamic traffic conditions
• Represents queues and bottlenecks, such as accounting for inter-related queues on roadway segments and intersection backing up into each other (spillback)
• Provides the ability to represent intersection geometrics and traffic control systems in detail
• Works with CUBE Base to graphically show the ebb and flow of traffic in real-time
Both Cube DTA and Cube Reports work with other key CUBE modules, such as Cube Voyager (used for macroscopic urban models) and CUBE Dynasim (a traffic microsimulator) to allow designers and analysts to understand with greater certainty the potential impact of any network revision. “CUBE DTA and Dynasim are designed to work closely together,” observes Matthew Martimo, Citilabs Director
